| how to get that friendly look to my website
here is my website: www.shawnserver.cjb.net
TechIMO has that nice friendly look to it so i copied some of the basic design such as plain white background and simple black lettering with it setup in 2 columns instead of 3 columns and the links heading at the top but it still looks rather hostile
any suggestions? (btw if you have any ideas for gifs i could make to spruce up the site plz tell me) |

You need a column for the index... the site is rather messy IMO.
If you want some design ideas I would be glad to give it a shot.

what do you mean column for index? isn't that horizontal thing good enough?
i fixed the problem of the index at the top all scrunching together by putting it in a table |

The top thing is OK... but I think it's a little unorganized.

OK, here goes, I will try to tell you some secrets
First of all get a clolour scheme, Eg, greys, Reds, blacks, whites, The choose a structure. The structure should involve a menu of some kind such as on techimo. A area to disply things ( eg. writing, images ) White space: make sure you have white space, it doens't really need to be white but thats what we call it. It is just the area where nothign is!
Next get yourself a CSS(cascading style sheet) they make sites look good and can be manipluted very nicly!
Theres more i am just to tired to tell ya, later huh
edit- Oh yeah, never make links to other sites bigger that your site stuff, remeber this is yours that is there, unless they pay you!

I ran a simple search on Google for "css" and it found this site.
It may help you, i am not sure, my bandwidth is all used and i couldn't veiw the page: http://www.w3.org/Style/CSS/
In that case make a links page! |
