video's using frames!

Hey guys..i'm working on a possible job (they're looking for someone to do it, and I know how to do most of the dirty work, except two things. One is simple macromedia (afaik) and I'd need major help to do it. The other would hopefully just be a recommendation. What they want is a webpage with three frames. Banner up top with their business logo and such, right small frame with a list of movies, and a right larger frame where the movies will play. easy enough but one hitch. They want to be able to check off all the movies they want to watch, then click play and have them play 1 after the other (so movie # 2 starts loading while movie #1 is still playing) I know flash allows you to do this with up to 7 movies (google research) however I have no idea what I'm doing with flash...so I'd need help there, and the left frame where you have a list of movies...I don't really know how I'd set that up. I'm assuming it'd take javascript but i don't really know javascript yet...only perl and html . any ideas? (seems like a decent challange...not toooo far outa my range but not something simple either!) any advice appreciated! .

/edit i'm rereading this and just wanted to clarify. I'm looking for someone to help me learn this stuff and everything...not for someone to do it for me. thanks guys!

MSN Video has a playlist that is created with JavaScript. It is not exactly the same as the checklist idea but it serves the same purpose.

I don't think they load the next video while the current video is playing though.

As far as getting your JavaScript to interact with your HTML then you will need to understand the innerHTML and outerHTML functions. You can look them up in Google. This is called Dynamic HTML ( or JavaScript that can manipulate HTML elements and their values ) There are of course other methods you can use as well but those are very popular.

And using frames you will have to understand how the target tag in HTML works and how you can use Dynamic HTML to manipulate elements on multiple targets or frames.

There is also a timer method in Javascript that can be used in this project as a way to wait to load the next video on the list. Such as - wait and load the next video after the current video is loaded and playing. You will have to capture the users connection speed and guesstimate on when to set the timer.

These are just some ideas. I don't know flash, but I am sure it would be easier to do this sort of thing in a flash player movie.
