| Dreamweaver Halo template help needed
I am playing with the Halo template that comes with Dreamweaver and I have a few questions. I have uploaded the original template to a free web host. Please view for reference. Site is offline while I wait for domain to be transfered.
1) Using Dreamweaver, how can I easily shift the whole site down below the ad banner at the top? I can move the individual parts but things get out of wack and I dont want to have to keep shifting everything.
2) I just discovered how to use the glink / global nav bar below "site name". When you select one of the gloabl links a sub menu drops down showing more available links. I am unsure how practical this option is and want some opinions. Would it be more pleasing to others to have simple links or do you think this type of navigation is alright? I may have many pages and dont want to clutter the top bar with links.
My plan is to remove the nav bar that is on the right so I can have the whole page for content. Also I just like having the nav bar at the top.
3) What is the purpose of the breadcrumb links at the top. I think they are there to show the current page path vs the main page. Kind of like command line paths. Please correct me if I am wrong.
If anyone is interested, this site seems rather nice for a free site. I picked up the Storage Max free site which comes with the following
20 GB Traffic per month
250 MB Web Space
2 MySQL Databases
20 Sub Domains
FTP
PHP
CPanel
You can remove the ad for $12 a year. If the site pans out I will do this.
There are other free packages as well. You can see the details here http://byethost.com/index.php?page=plans
Thanks
Jay

Nice template!
Well...can't you select everything, and move it down? (I never really used dreamweaver)
I really like the way the links are setup right now, I would keep them that way.
My plan is to remove the nav bar that is on the right so I can have the whole page for content. Also I just like having the nav bar at the top.
I think that is for your location on the server...like where that document is...
Well, ya I did try them before...and they had a really nice setup...but for some reason I could never connect to my site with FTP...so I stopped using them... |

I had tried selecting all and enter and it removed everything instead of shifting it down.
So far I have not had any trouble accessing ftp or anything else.
Thanks

I know little about html but do have the ability to edit html with Dreamweaver. What could I put directly in the code to shift everything down? I know that <p> </p> produces a new line and I tried inserting that in various places. I was able to shift items down but not in the right place.
Thanks |

Well, I used to be in a class where we coded HTML...but that was 4 years ago...so I forgot everything again...
But I am going to play around with it...see if I can figure it out. |

I went ahead and paid the $12 to do away with the ad. I have had several dealing with the support staff and they impressed me. They were quick to respond and gave me the exact answers that I needed.
I am planning on making the site a family site. My main reason for choosing this site is so I can host Coppermine to display pictures and such. I also want to add a forum using phpBB for us to have a bit of fun at our leisure. I have no knowledge of mysql or php so this will be an experience. I am sure I will many more questions. Lol.
Thanks |

Well, I was looking at it some more this morning...and I can't figure out how to shift everything down...every time I try it I break the page apart.
YOu will probably have to look into some tutorials for HTML...and see what they say... |
