HTML Code Question -- Link Bar

I am working on a website www.radio.dominationtime.com, it is going well, but I am a novice and wanted to see if there were some shortcuts I was missing. My main problem is the link bar. When I want to add something to it, I must add it to every single page on the site. Right now I have about 7, so adding a download for the podcast will take the time of uploading plus editing every php file there.

I was thinking about it last night, is there a way to make each web page point to another php file that has the links, and then it would be displayed inside of each page? Not sure if I explained that right.


How do webmasters manage a link bar like this?

If you're using PHP it's easy. Create your link bar in a seperate php or html file.

For your pages, you can call your link bar page by using:

PHP Code:

<?
include 'linkbar.php';
?>

It will include the file as if it was written in that page. Therefore, you'll want to remove any standard HTML header and body codes in the included file.

Another simple way to do this (not specifically for PHP) is to make a template. Dreamweaver definately has this, I do not know about other software. Basically you just make a "sample" page with the link bar and anything else you want displayed on every page, and then you make pages with the existing template. Later, if you want to add/remove a link from the link bar, you only have to edit the template, and all pages using it will automatically be updated.
