If you want a template to make a simple webpage try Netscape. There are templates in the Composer part of Netscape's full version.

Well, i wouldnt really say it would be a simple webpage, its going to have alot of features on it, and i want to make it look some work has been put into it, or something not so simple. I could easily buy/download (freeware) of the internet but then my page wont look unique, memebers might recognise it from other places. |

Ok, making a template is pretty complicated, but the hardest part is thinking of a design. Basically, a template is just like any page. What you do is go into Photoshop or Fireworks or other image program, and you make a page. Make all the banenrs, links, rollovers, ect, just do not add any text. Then, use a slice tool to cut up the template into blocks. Then export the slices and the HTML into a folder. Then, use Dreamweaver to open the HTML file. You should be able to see all the pictures. Then in Dreamweaver, make Editable Regions (places where text will be placed on pages). Dreamweaver should automatically convert your page to a Template after you do this. The file name should be blah.dwt now. Finally, to use the template, make a new page, go to Modify>Template>Apply Template to Page.

Holly Molly, thats definatly alot more complicated than i first thought, i didnt know dreamweaver was invovled in it too. I think its best i probaly buy one of the net, but i got my eye on one template, and im finding exactly the same series of templates on other websites - just for different prices?!? Then again, if i do go ahead and buy the template, someone is going to regocnise it and it jsut wont be the same as 'my own'.
-Thanks for outline.. |
