I want to make a website but im not sure how to go about doing it because all the diffrent packages/deals i find. I was looking at networksolutions then i found that yahoo seems to have a better deal (more space..ect for less) But say i go to register.com and register a domain name. What do i need to creat the actual site? Im planning on selling products so it has to be ecommerce right? after searching on here i think im going to do all the html instead of using a program. Heres my questions-
1-What do i need to make a site (used for selling products) if i register a domain name?
2-Is the basic yahoo ecommerce deal good?? |

If you haven't done this before, I would do a lot more research before jumping on anything. A large number of services are available to help you out. GoDaddy.com is about the cheapest registrar AND web hosting site I've found... and they're pretty reliable since they're so big. They also include tools to make the site design easier. The biggest issues with setting up ecommerce are credit card processing (you might want to start out just by accepting paypal) and getting your site's name known on the 'net. Without customers and without credit card acceptance, your site won't take off.

I am planing on getting a credit card tommarow and ordering some hosting from 1&1... http://order.1and1.com/xml/order/Hos...op&__lf=Static
For $3/month...
* 1 domain name
* 5 GB web space
* 500 e-mail accounts
* 250 GB traffic
But how are you going to get your site going? When you buy hosting and a site all you get is blank space...if you don't know how to program html, php, and mysql(I would imagine you will need to know all 3 to make a site like you want) you will either have to find a free thing like that...or hire someone to program it for you... |

you can use OSCommerce if you want you can even customized the design of your OSCommerce if you want same as what they did here http://www.templatemonster.com/oscommerce-templates.php
hmmm if you don't want to use osCommerce then be prepared for like 6k or above to hire coders

I can code php, html, and work with a MySQL database, but I just started learning how to do this...I started mabey 6-8 months ago(I started raw programming of it mabey 3 months ago)...
So I could help you on your site if you need some tweaking...but it would take me a long time to do an entire site.
The main site I work on is this: http://www.gotechzilla.com/index.php
(I didn't make it...just tweaked it a lot...we use phpBB2 and the mxBB Portal) |
