upgrade to VS 2005 to program in Win CE 5?

I have a project i created for a Windows CE device, i have been working on it the past couple months, i knew the device it was going to be deployed on (symbol scanner) but i was using both my PDA and an older (CE 4) Symbol test system to work out alot of the bugs. I used Visual Studio 2003 and the .NET Compact Framework to make my application.

Now that the device came in the mail i want to use, it seems as though i cant deploy it from my .NET CF ways, and VS 03, i have VS 05 installed on another computer, but that means converting the project over to VS 2005 and learning the differences in it. Is that the only way to program for the Windows CE 5.0 Environment? So i have to use Visual Studio 2005, or can i just get an upgraded package somewhere for VS .NET 03? I think i need a newer Compact Framework as well, i forced what i use now to the old device and said its not compatible, do you want to still install, i did, but that didnt help me to get it working any better..

Any suggestions?

VS 2005 have awhole new deployment technology (ClickOnce), as well as being .NET 2.0 by default - but I'm not sure how this pertains to Windows CE.

If you have an MSDN subscription - I'd definately suggest upgrading to VS 2005.

Is this the development kit you are using?

no im not using any real development kit, im programming it in C# and i downloaded the .NET CF SDK so it would work on a handheld device. Up until now ive always used it on either PPC or Win CE 4.2 or whatever devices, it will run on a PocketPC even though it was coded as a WinCE program. Not sure why 5.0 is much different, does it use .Net CF 2.0 as a standard?

what was that link i downloaded from anyway?

Well i downloaded the latest version of ActiveSynce because the one i had was not compatible with VS 2005, and my project after converted to run on 2005 has no problems building, but i get this error message when deploying it:

Error 1 An operation was attempted on something that is not a socket.

I have no idea where that socket is... is it physical, or virtual?

UPDATE: Well i searched that error on M$'s site and i found a "solution" to it, doesnt it always seem that you have to edit a registry or something when you have an error. Well i did what it said, but when i restarted it came back with the same error, back to square numero uno
