LOL! http://www.xaml.net/ The Snowboarder is .net 3... |

I thought i made an app awhile back in VS '05 and it didnt run on a machine until i updated it to .net 2.0 Im gonna go look at M$ now to download the .Net 3.0. Does visual Studio even take advantage of 3.0? or is that going to be incorporated into a future release?

yea. all versions of .net require the .net runtime engine to be installed. Just wondering how 3 compared to two. AFAIK the .net runtime engine comes w/ the compiler...so the visual studios ide can compile to any version of .net you have installed (could be wrong though...but that's what i thought!) |

You don't need the .net framework installed on your machine to view this website. The website was created in asp.net, however.
Until now, I have never heard of a web app requiring the .net framework on the client. Thus my amazement of the Snowboarder app. I guess its more like a java applet. You have to have java installed on your machine to run applets, and now you have to have the .net framework installed on your machine to run apps like the snowboard example. HUMMMM. Is this the MS version of a Java applet??? Weird! |

asp.net is a server side scripting language...that means it does require .net to be installed...just on the server instead of on the client! |

WoW's page uses java on the server side, but doesn't require anything on client side.
