Welcome page for School Principal

What would you guys suggest on this?

Currently we have a site that hosts information for our school. On that site, we have a front-end that has a picture of the principal and a small little excerpt welcoming users to the site, and upcoming stuff from his/her viewpoint.

Unfortunately, this is a solid HTML file, that the educational specialists have to edit every time they want to throw something on the site. Which, really isn't a problem at all - but I'm all about doing things more efficiently.

I run dasblog on my server at home, and would like something similar to throw into the mix if at all possible. It's really easy to configure, but I'm not sure that piece of software is what I'd be looking for here...

I really like the software, and it's really easy to use... But what I'm looking for here, would be something that can keep a photo on the front end of the page, and only one current comment below the photo of the principal, while everything else is archived by date.

Any ideas that I can use for it? It's all a "side" project, so nothing urgent.... But free is definately a *high* priority.

You could write your own php script. That's free and a good learning experience !

PHP would be great! - But I honestly have absolutely no clue on how that database falls together.

A VBscript would suffice, but then I really don't know how to automate it the way the blogging software does. I was messing around with the different themes with dosblog, and it may have what I'm looking for. It has a theme with a picture in the upper left corner.

I might be able to throw the principals pic in there, and limit the blog roll to only one entry, while it archives the rest.

Now, of course - if ya'd like to throw together a nice PHP script for me, I wouldn't hold it against ya'.

To just access a database and take the most recent entry? Sure, no problem! If you want me to write a script to add to the database...well...that i don't quite have much experience with yet I'm working on that part now!! lol. If i learn I can do up both parts for ya! (of course...i hope you'd keep me in mind for any paid work you may have in the future when i'm a bit more experienced....lol) pm me if you're interested!

But I got Dasblog to do exactly what I was shooting for. REALLY good piece of software there.

You should check it out: http://www.dasblog.info when ya' get a chance.

And I'll keep your PHP scripting in mind and may ask later if I can "outsource" some services to you if something comes up.

yay....cus i'm BROKE and school bills are expensive!! Ohh it's hard to pull off going to school with no loans. Me = POOR for now. Hopefully a degree will fix that in 2 years!
