Be wary when you are dealing with Google. They use a page ranking system which can be dropped to zero (PR0) and it takes a while to get back.

They can also delist your site if they think you are up to anything unethical in chasing high rankings.

This link is the best resource I've seen on how to get a site popular using google alone.
