MySQL Problems Assistance

Well, one of my databases for a website I maintain became corrupt last week due to something being jacked up on the host side. Well, my host did a free restore of my database to the night before the issues began occuring. Problem being I lost 3 days worth of important data. Well, I still have the old database, as they did the restore from backup to a new name. The host won't give me the raw data of the database so I can try to manipulate things on my end further. I tried doing a repair, export, etc and they all return the same error:

#1030 - Got error 1 from storage engine

I was wondering if any SQL guru's out there knew of some way to break the "In Use" on the database that isn't being used anymore and/or fix this error so that I can recover the 3 days worth of data that I'm missing. All I want to be able to do is look at 3 tables within this database and get about 20-30 lines from each table so I can input it manually into my new database.

Ok, I managed to convince them to give me all of the raw data files for the database..even after moving them over to the data directory, it doesn't see any of the innodb tables in there. So, after messing with it a bit, I've decided that I probably won't be able to simply mount and view, so I've decided to go another route with these. Anyone know if there's a way to simply view the information within the IBD files? I've tried excel and wordpad/notepad but they all have garbled information. Let me know if ya'll know of any way. Still googling :/

never mind...I kinda figured it out..I just used a hex editor to view the raw data files and although it looked ugly as hell, I was able to get what I needed from them and update the good database manually...thanks though

Sounds like it is time for a new host.

I've had the same host for 4 years now...first time I've EVER had to contact them due to issues...Hopefully it'll be the last

One mess up in 4 years isn't too bad, in my opinion.

If they do not allow you to export your MySQL data I would have left the second I received the backup after having to complain to them. It is YOUR data, not your hosts.

no, that wasn't it. I couldn't do an export on the data because the database was corrupt. Neither could they. What they did was provide me with the ibd and frm files of the database itself. It's all good, though. Everything's back to how it should be so no worries
