PHP for beginners

Hello, I am looking for sources of information on PHP. I have never used it and would like play around with it and get to know it, where and how should I start?.

I found that php.net is pretty much straight documentation, go there to look up syntax and stuff, but not really great on learning.

Here's some sights I've used..

http://www.phpbuilder.com/ good tutorials, usually more advanced
http://www.devshed.com/ also tutorials
http://www.evilwalrus.com/ didn't go here too often, but looks completely redesigned and more helpful
http://php.resourceindex.com/ mostly scripts


unfortunately, there really isn't a site that will take you through learning php, grab a book. Check the local libraries, they are usually only a year of so behind.
