    Iphone/pad developers?

Anyone here program or develop for the apple mobile market??

Was thinking about trying my hand at making some games/apps simply because i dont find what i am looking for exactly. Never done much of anything for programming so any feedback on what challenges i might face are appreciated.

not sure where the dozen[s] of links are but that guide will definitely come in handy. have a friend of mine who is interested in helping me get started. Have at least one or two friends i am sure would be good for testing the software.

Think its time to have a business meeting with him and see what if anything he wants to develop in addition to games.

dont forget the android market, its growing very very quickly.
There are numerous hardware makers for android, so you're not locked down to one provider
(there are of course cons to that too)

Do any of your friends have a LOT of experience in writting code or will you just design it and farm out the code writting?

With it being an open market. I don't see it as being as simple of a breakout market and i really don't want to have to do anything on my end to ensure that i'm making potential money on my products.

Funny, cuz I just started into Android programming. I've been a laid-off programmer since 10.2009 and it's just tough finding a job, so I decided to start programming smartphone apps.

I feel the smartphone and iPad app market is in it's infancy with nothing but potential ahead of it. Imagine it....the millions and millions of web pages and stuff you can do online with your computer (banking, shopping, register for college, restaurant menus, movie ticket yada, yada) that people and companies will want ported to an app!!!

You can go as simple as being a html developer and creating a web page designed to fit the smartphone or iPad screen size, to writing sophisticated applications (think GPS ground tracking for freshman students in college; they're ALWAYS lost!!!! ROFL).

Like I said, I'm going the Android route for now. But I think I'll make the investment in a MacBook Pro for my development and hopefully an easy transition to iPad programming.

Think about it...you make an app that people can't live without...charge $1.00 for it and 10,000 (or more!!) people download it...do the math :-) LOL

Well, I don't know what to tell you now. I've got 2 Android applications done and published on Google Market. I've made a few sales, but nothing ground breaking. Then again, they've only been out there for 5 days

Android programming is JAVA-based and if you're not a programmer, I think it's going to be tough because there is a ton of class-based coding AND interacting with XML.
