    Creating local testing web server

     
    Could anyone point me in the direction of how to set up a local web server so I can configure wordpress installation before I upload them online? Something with MySQL, PHP capability etc would be required..

    One of the quickest routes to getting a local HTTP server with additions up and running would likely be a LAMP server appliance/distro image for VMware Player or other virtualization suite.

    depends on which OS your on

    WAMP = Windows
    LAMP = Linux
    MAMP = Mac

    they would be the easiest way to setup a test server imo

    XAMPP works just as well as the others previously mentioned in the thread. I prefer WAMP for a windows environment more then I do XAMPP though.
