requested resource is in use!

Hi.

My first post in this forum.

in IIS, when i try to browse any .asp page, i get the error
"the requested resource is in use"

I removed IIS from add/remove and installed again, but it still gives the error.

what could be the problem ?

Thanks,

That is not the issue. cache ISAPI is enabled/selected on configurations on the home directory setting and .asp points to c:\winnt\system32\inetsrv\asp.dll and that .dll exists[334608 bytes].
Methods allowed are: GET, HEAD, POST, TRACE

I removed IIS from add/remove, rebooted the system, and added IIS again and it still has the problem.

maybe a faulty asp.dll or some other issues ? something on services that should run ?

I am running Windows 2000 Server with Service Pack 2, IIS 5, and have tried several things to resolve this.

o- uninstalled the IIS component, rebooted, reinstalled it.
o- reran Service Pack 2 installation
o- verified the correct permissions on the Home Directory were read and script execution
o- verified the asp.dll mapping existed (and re-registered the DLL just incase)
o- verified the permissions of the Default Web Server

I realize this is a lot of information, but I'm hoping it will help to better troubleshoot and offer a resolution. I've seen numerous references to this same problem in the archives, but no solution suggestions. I'm out of ideas here, can you help? Please? (/

Unhappy
same problem

I am having the same problem as you describe. This happens on a server maintained by client, and he hired a 'security'expert to firewall the machine.

There are now 2 firewalls on the system, one from F-prot and one from Eeye-systems. Also he applied some strange security policy on the machine.

We see no other option than completely rebuilding the webserver.

We tried a lot, disabling firewalls, adjusting policies, but nothing worked. We got different messages when requesting an asp-page, but NEVER the page we want to see

Maybe you also have 3rd party software to firewall your system, wich could cause the problem. The rest of our webservers have 'standard' iis setting, with the latest sp's and updates, and never have problems of this kind.

Hi.

It turned out that I had used IIS Lockdown tool that Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer installed in the server.

It should be either IIS Lockdown tool or other similar tool from microsoft that they recommend as critical upgrade.
