Personal Webserver with Comcast Cable

I was wondering if anybody on this forum is using Comcast Cable as there Internet provider. If so has anybody successfully setup a webserver that is accessible from the outside world.

I'm currently using a Linksys router and have tried port fowarding but haven't had any luck. Does anybody have a suggestion.

Thanks,
LK

some providers block port 80 for http transfers and you have to ask them to enable it . when you tell um what its for i always say its for a game that needs port 80 to get on-line for multiplayer.

I have been running a webserver since I got my cable modem from Comcast. I dont have much traffic, only a select group of people have the address but it works. Keep in mind that Comcast has uploads capped at 128. But you can do it.

Tarpat1, what webserver are you running, Apache, IIS, other? Do you have a router, or just a straight connection to the cable modem? If you are using a router did you have to configure it in any special way?

Thanks,
LK

I have been running a webserver off port 81 for quite some time with comcast. No one goes there so I dont use much of their precious upload bandwidth. I do know that it is against the terms of service and that they could cut off your service if they catch you.
