site vs page

Is a web site different than a web page?

I am having to create a web page and am trying to learn enough to create one.

a website is the whole thing. i,e all the web pages, graphics, database, forum or whatever

a page is just one page

The site is usually all the web'pages' that belong to it, so all the pages at Techimo make up the site.

But some people refer to a page as a site too

home page is usually the first page you see when you open the site - however I called this page the INDEX page - makes life MUCH easier when trying to setup your site

Basic web page code:

This is a web page.
</body>
</html>

That is about the most basic web page you can make. Typing the above into any text editor and choose SAVE AS and type in ANYNAME.html and save it. There is your very first web page

A web site would consist of alot of individual pages that would be linked together.........and usually on the internet under one domain name.
