i backup my mysql database from a server with Cpanel, when i try to restore it on my site using Cpanel on another webhosting server i get a error not in gzip format the file is a gz file is there any way to convert it to gzip or what could have being the problem, help i need this file in the next 8 hours to restore a message board

.gz is a gzip file. Other than that, I'm lost. I don't run any servers, but i bet someone here knows.

yes i know i just cant figure out what happen i'm about to loose 500 + member on a forum board, u never know how serious something is until it happen to you, my site have being down for about 4 days now dont know if that normal but if u ask me i think my hosting company might have went out of business can get any respond from them and the only backup i have is not working

can you unzip the file using winzip or whatever??

are we talking about 2 diffrent hosts??

Try untaring the file (tar -xvf filename.gz) ... I've run into a few files with the .gz extension that weren't exactly GZ.

If the server is a unix machine, run the command 'file' on the file also, and see if it can ID it.
