| Is my site design efficent enough?
Here it is: My Comic Strip Site
It's my site where I have some of my comic strips. They are in Dilbert type comic strips and Farside type.
Please post whether it was easy to find the cartoons and the ease of use in going from cartoon to cartoon.
Thanks in advance

Your requested resolution is outragous. Most 'normal' people still use 800x600 as their default resolution.
A good thing to keep in mind when designing pages is to check the page in multiple resolutions, on multiple browsers (IE, Mozilla, Amaya, Opera).
This will help ensure anyone can view your page.
Another thing you might want to do for the right frame is make the text smaller, and shrink down the size of that frame.
Hope that's constructive for ya. Good luck. |

Thanks for the reply. I don't have enough time right now to switch it to 800x600 resolution but:
Do I have to go back to frontpage and scale all the text and images down in size? or is there an easier way?
also: How can people browse in 800x600, the menu bars alone on internet explorer take up 1/4 of the screen! It's probably just because I'm used to a really high resolution...
Thanks again and I'll work on fixing it.

I don't know about "most" people using 800x600. Certainly there are a lot of people out there at that res, but personally I don't know even one person with that dreadful resolution.
My recommendation: Lose the frame. You are trying to squeez too much content into the horizontal space. The frame does not add any functionality to the site. |

okay, thanks again. So I should get rid of the news frame (you're right it isn't really good for much)?
Also as I asked previously: Do I need to change the font size and the size of the pictures or is there some option in frontpage express to do this for me?
I'm new to webpage design so these are probably dumb questions, but thanks for answering anyway.
Did anyone check out past the index page? Would the frame on the cartoon pages be okay if it were in a smaller resolution?
Thanks again,

Would it be safe to say that a website should be designed so it will fit comfortably with 800x600 resolution?
Thanks for all the help, this has been great.
Once I finally get the site into viewable form be sure to check out some of the cartoons.
Thanks in advance,

I think it depends on why you are doing the sight. If it is just a personal sight then you should make it however you want it. If you are wanting to do this for other people, then you should design it for them...
when I redid my site, I made sure I used the 800x600 resolution. I run 1152x864 but I still wanted people to be able to view it even if they don't use higher resolutions.
---edwelly BTW, my site is http://davesaidwhat.com

wow man I keep my browser around 1024x768 and almost had to full screen to 1600*1200 !!! if your using front page get rid of it. It's a evil program !!! Get dream weaver MX how ever you can .... buy it or kazaa ... it's great I love it.
the font size must go down... unless it's a header I normaly wont go bigger than 12 - 14 point pending on the font.
I would also have every thing open in parent, unless you warn ppl that you are using pop-ups cause a pop-up killer will kill open in blank set pages
and personaly I would set your nav on the left hand side, ppl are use to it being either on top or to the left
the pics should get knocked down in size if you can keep them clear enough that ppl can read them. this will also save space on your server.I care for *gif's they seem to load faster and you can interlace them so ppl see something right away for those of us who are on dial up accounts....
if you look at my site just email me from the link on the lower part of the page I would be willing to help you further if you would like.
not to pimp my self but here is my site link removed {sniper} please do not spam the forums with repeated links to your website - Fingers / TechIMO Moderator
and I run larger than what I most likely should Last edited by Fingers on 11-16-2002 at 10:58 AM

I think most people use 1024x768, but not everyone maximizes their browser (I don't). I'll have a couple browser wndows and an IM windows open all the time and prefer to switch by clicking between them, so I reduce my browser windows to about 800x600. |
