ok, i was posting around in other threads, thought i would start my own. i want to set up a mail server with remote retrieval capabilities (both web and via OE) also an smtp server. i currently run winxp. does anybody have free solutions for that idea? i have been able to find free smtp and pop3, but they dont work with the webinterfaces i have found. in another thread, squirrelmail was suggested for a web interface, anybody have a good free imap server to use with it? links? gracias |

Ok. Understandable. But if you come up with another machine, check out e-smith's SME server. It's Linux based and requires its own machine, but it's a snap to set up and use. You don't really need Linux experience. It has a built-in web and email server that works with clients like OE, does IMAP, and has a built-in web interface. Easy as pie to use. |

The link's not currently working for me right now, but I downloaded MIMS free IMAP server for WinXP from www.maclean.com/imap/home.html
I haven't figured out the mail format and how to get email in it, but my machine can connect to the server so it seems like I can make it work with some experimentation.
If you find anything better, let me know! |
