updating PHP versions

this is a silly question, so I'll answer myself.

multiple versions of PHP exist.

I'm running PHP 4.1.1,XPpro,IIS4.

The current version of PHP is 4.3.0.

how to update?

answers:

uninstall PHP4.1.1.
install PHP4.3.0. Hope it works.

this is what I did to get from PHP4.? to PHP4.1.1, AND the installer did not configure IIS4! no biggie, easy to do.

i've checked www.php.net in both downloads and searching entire site for "update php" and "updating php".

hoping just overwrite existing php files with new ones, maybe restart IIS?

have personally had no problems just installing a new version of PHP over the old with windows. Just make sure any changes in the language are accounted for in your scripting (i.e. moving from the 4.0.x series usually involves the changing of the way GLOBALS are used...).
