Dreamweaver & MS Access Problems

Hello,

We have set up our web page in Dreamweaver with MS access data base as stated in directions.

Here's the problem, web server is Cobalt with Solaris Platform.

Everything I read regarding Chilisoft ASP & Access data base states that you need WinNT on server for the Access data base to work.

Can I use the Access Data base on this server?????

Any help would be appreciated!!!!

Thanks in advance,

Chef

I'm not familiar with that platform, but you need some sort of drivers (ODBC, JET?) installed on the machine that is accessing the Access DB. I think that's why they say you need WinNT. Those drivers are the engine that allows the OS to read and understand the database.

Thanks for the reply gwinters,

I'm helping out our Graphics Person and I'm pretty ignorant on the subject.

I think you can do it in Chilisoft but I'm having quite the time muddling my way through it.

I've never used those apps, I'm mainly a desktop VB guy. You need to talk to someone that knows your server environment inside and out. I've only worked with MS Windows servers. Solaris a flavor of UNIX, right?

Yes, Solaris is a Sun variation of Unix.

I've been knocking around the control panel on the server and it looks like all I need to do is tell the server which DB to look for.

I'll keep you posted.

Thanks,
Chef
