| APACHE 2.0 in XP Password Protection
I am running Apache 2.0 in Win XP and all is well and I recently started to tinker with password protected directories... now what I want to do is just have a login page that sends you to a specific page based on your login info... like I want my this guy to see X files when he logs in and I want this guy to see Y files. Now I know how to do this by seperating the files into two different directories... passwording them and sending the user on a link to those files and then they get asked but I dont like the fact that I have to tell you where they are in the first place, finding passwords or anything is half the battle of a hacker. Anyways. I hope you understand what I am trying to ask. Thanks.

I've never run apache under windows, but if it uses .htaccess you can specify file by file what access is needed to view it.
Thus when a user logs in they would only have access to certain files. As for redirecting based off of .htaccess, not sure
Another way to do this is to use some scripting langugae (PERL, PHP, etc) and based off of their login, create a session, based off their session send them to the appropriate page.

You're using .htaccess? or some other auth method?

auth I think... I created password files with the tool that comes with apache and I protected the whole directory in the config file and in there told it to restrict with the basic mode and to allow certian users with their passwords. I dont think windows allows for .htaccess... not sure though.
