FYI, all linux distro comes with a myriad number of compliers including c/c+ as well as other languages. as a development platform, it is a programmer's dream.

if you can deal with a plain no-frills dos C compiler, i used PowerC from mixsoftware many years ago when i was first learning.

I have Mandrake 9.1 and you said that all linux distros have a compiler? I've been looking for a good c++ compiler and it is been under my nose all this time!
