| What is your color setting ???
I am currently working on a website, and in order to view it best you have to use at least 24bit color or it looks a little off........... the blending of colors doesn't work right at less than 24 bit.
What do you set your computer at for color?
On all the sites I've checked...........alot of people still run at 16 or less ............ about 50% of them from the looks of things. Does this sound like an accurate estimate. I don't want the site to look bad to over half it's visitors. It seems like almost any computer out on the net could probably do 32bit color, funny so many don't. I'd like to know what everyone here runs there computer at. So I'm taking a poll here. Let me know what you think. |

I usually run at 24-bit. I doubt if there's any human in the world that could tell the difference between 24-bit and 32-bit.
I choose 24-bit just because it uses less video memory.
1280 X 1024 X 24 / 8,388,608 = 3.75MB
1280 X 1024 X 32 / 8,388,608 = 5MB
Not a big difference, but I wanna squeeze out what I can. |

Seriously though, I keep mine on 32-bit simply because I can easily with my system...although I agree, I don't really see a darn difference...then again I'm not looking for one either.

You don't have my setting listed.
I run my Parhelia at 10bit GIGACOLOR, which is a step up from that nasty old 32bit junk
[edit] 24 bit is not hardware accelerated on many cards (and not supported in most games)
And on Parhelia, internal calcs are done at 32bit anyway, so going down to 16 bit is a waste...

What video card you use, EvilRick? I usually use 24-bit if my card even supports it, but then again, most of the time I use 32-bit on 1024 X 768
I'll get around to 1600 X 1200 when I get a new LCD |

The one I'm on now has a 64MB Voodoo 5 5500, 16 & 32 are the only choices w/ it, so I'm opting for 32-bit. (Doesn't mean I like it.)
Anohther box I have has a 32MB Matrox G450, it's set at 24-bit.
And, I believe both my Visiontek GF3 Ti200's are at 24-bit as well. I don't have monitors on them so I can't tell right now. |
