I think qball may be suggesting that its usually better practice to gracefully catch any dodgy user input (such as situations that result in a divide by 0) rather than just waiting for the php interpreter to choke on it, however I wouldn't assume to speak for him and I could be totally wrong
Anyway, keep up the good work.

SpookyEddy- qball might have just been suggesting that he edits the script to give an error on a "divide by zero," but he could have been a little nicer in how he said it. It is very difficult to do what e980238 has done and he did a darn good job. I just think that qball could have made the suggestion in a nicer way.

| I'd go with the first one. And btw, I shouldn't be able to edit your server side php, unless not secured.
Well aware of the quadratic formula, and no, I did not set a=0. I think I entered a,b,c. One should always validate input.
A least state what you want the user to input, then you could use javascript to check for non-zero integers. Or do it server side and have oops or bad input response. |
