YaWPS not working

A little birdie told me about YaWPS so I'm giving it a go.

I've got everything up on the server correctly, but am unsure of if I'm editing the files correctly.

One of the FAQ's says to delete the "-T" switch from all the .cgi files. I've done that.

It also says to edit the "yawpsrc.pl" and input the appropriate values for the server. I've done that.

It comes with a "test.cgi" script to run that shows an output of basically the directory for "cgi-bin" and what version of Perl is installed. That runs fine.

If I try to do anything else, I get "script produced no output ".

Anybody have any experience w/ this?

- Make sure you uploaded all CGI files in ASCII mode (check if they are uploaded completely).
- Check your scripts and folders permissions (i.e. chmod all cgi files to 755).
- Check the path to Perl in every CGI file (i.e. #!/usr/bin/perl).
- Check your settings in yawpsrc.pl. Make sure you've entered an absolute path for $cfg{scriptdir}. Check if you've escaped the @ sign in $cfg{webmaster_email} with a backslash (i.e.: my\@email.com).

Directly from their website.......but the permissions and the uploading the perl file in ascII mode are the big ones. It sounds like one of the other files has the wrong permissions set.

All the settings are correct, otherwise the "test.cgi" wouldn't be working. BTW, it's on a 2K server, so no "chmod".

Unfortunately, the developer doesn't check his own forums that often to see if anybody has ?'s.

In the meantime, it's dead in the water. I'm looking for alternatives as well.

did you upload the yawpsrc.pl in text mode? Not binary?

Also...... if you edited the yawpsrc.pl file....... you definatley need to DISABLE WORD WRAPPING on any text editor...... or it fubars the .pl file.

If permissions are right and the text.cgi file works...... then I would assume what is not working is the actual file your going to run vs the test.cgi ...... I also assumed that was the yawpsrc.pl file......but I'm not familiar with that blog system. What file usually runs instead of the text.cgi? I'd say your problem lies there.
