Before you jump on the asp bandwagon............

Personally..........
I like the open source concept period myself. With php and mysql your virtually guaranteed to be able to run it on any server. PHP uses similar syntax to C++ . Plus if you ever want to find out WHY something doesn't work on php you could get into the nuts and bolts of it........... with asp your locked out because it's a propriatary code.

Just my 2 cents worth.

crouse,

hey apache and linux and php is all cool, just depends on what your using it for. as a more network driven person i find coding somewhat difficult to understand, and ASP.NET makes it simple. PHP is harder to understand, but like i said, it has its benefits. but then again, so does ASP.NET.

BTW, ya we agreed to disagree, but that was about MS being a monopoly. Which I'm just about convinced they are. But ya, we can agree to disagree

creatures,

if you have a server or host that supports ASP I'd suggest learning it first and then moving on to PHP. Since ASP is easier, naturally you'd start at the bottom and work your way up
