| Does this server seem fast enough? www.usalug.org/phpBB2/
I was wondering if my server seems as fast as other websites forums, or slower??
Seems fast enough to me......... but I'm not sure since I'm only 10' from my server, that's probably not a good guage.
Also, being a newbie to the world of servers, how much traffic could a server handle.
1 server 400mgz 756mb ram
on a cable connection?
I'm just curious, because I don't know the answer, or how to figure a load on the server or line.
My best "guess" would be that the bottleneck would be the cable line. I think the actual server could handle most loads and the line would jamb up before the server ever overloaded. So am I right? |

Thats plenty hardware wise for a regular non commercial server, but is your cable connection's upload capped at 128 kbps? That is not too good for larger images and files. Should be ok for a message board tho.

I guess you'll know if its enough internet juice on your cable connection when you go live. |

It's working (live) now..... just not much traffic to speak of. I suppose eventually I will know...
I was just wondering if there was some sort of "rule of thumb" or actual calculation one could use to figure the load that my line would carry. I think the server will handle alot, but that the line would be the weak link. |

Works great for me. Assuming you keep the images light, I doubt you will have any probs.
