Adding a shopping cart to your website?

A friend of mine owns a small business and he just set his own turf on the web. Now he's looking for a way to implement a simple but easy to use shopping system through his website. He just got burned by the guy who set the website up for him so he's come to me for help. I was wondering if anyone could recommend some shopping cart software below $500 which requires a one time license fees, is easily customizable as well as easy to implement and administer.

It doesn't have to be anything fancy, as most of his customers are other businesses and not individuals. He wants his customers to have the ability to log on to their account and be able to track their orders through UPS and Fedex. Oh and he thinks I'm tech-savvy enough to put it up for him myself, so I'll prolly need something which comes with a detailed manual.

Hi free~

A client of mine is using and likes Cart32.

I've not installed this particular cart, but you can check it out with a free trial.

Good luck

Hey to save that $500 have you looked for an open source one? I suggest osCOMMERCE it is pretty straight forward to set up and has clear interfaces for updating etc,,. BUT if you intending on ordering over the net, then be prepard to part over PERHAPS more then that $500 if you want to purchase a merchant to enable credit card options. BUT with oscommerce it lets you pay normally, plus it gives the customer email reports on the stage in which their order is in (eg pending, delivery etc,) as well it creates the invoice and package slip for the boss to just print out if he wishes. Hope that helps you
