Promoting a website

Hey all, I guess u probably get loadsa questions like this, but i am lost in the world of promoting my website. I have looked around but there are so many "get 10000s of traffic to your site" websites, but they all seem like scams, and its impossible to choose between them. I dont want to do a banner exchange or add an ad to my page. I want to advertise specifically to people in London, England. Is this possible? Do any of you know a good low cost web promoter? Well if you want to promote for a specific location, then doing local promoting is probably best...if you do it on the internet you'll get people from all over.

You could try to find other websites for specifically people in that region, and work out some sort of link trade with them.

yeah we do a lot of local promoting, but need to exploit the benefits of the internet to target a lot more people. Its a good idea to do a deal with other companies, have done with one, but the refferal is not that great.

Banner exchange places are easy to cheat if you dont want a banner ad on your site. Maybe try search engines, email promotions, webforums, flyers, and popups.
