Local search engine!

Hi guys,

I'm about to finish building a website for work, it has about 250 pages (a normal HTML site that i built with DW MX without frams).

I'm still new to website building and there are many things that i still don't understand very well.

Anyway, i want to put a local search engine for the pages of this site. I looked on the internet and googled a little, but i was a little lost.
If anyone can guide me through making this local search engine it would be more than appreciated.

Regards

I'm kinda new to this to so I'll do my best...basically you need to meta tag something in there related to your area..ie put japan in the meta tag or tokyo something similar to that...you also need to submit to the engines and finding them is hard but here's a link that should provide some and i'll post up somemore links for you when i get them. hope it helps ya

this one might be better i'm not sure the first one works right

http://www.worldjump.com/links/japan.htm

its hard for me to suggest sites I can't read but those two are in english

Although internet search engine might cause me a problem, but the site is still local (didn`t upload it to a server yet).
For now i want to make a search engine inside my site that will help the visitors to find pages they need from the site.
Like the search engine on TechIMO, when you put a keyword to find pages with the work you're looking for.

Thanx for the links, i'm sure they will become handy when the site goes live.

Thanx for trying dude ..
I hope its not that difficult to be done, its a critical feature and a must have for this site.
The customers will be lost without a local search engine.

What kind of server is it on? You can get htdig for apache. http://www.htdig.org/

Or if its IIS you can use Indexing Service: http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...webov_4i0j.asp

Alot will depend on what your hosting company allows.

edit: Found some others
PHP Soft Search: http://scriptsearch.com/details/8773.html
A CGI one: http://www.perlfect.com/freescripts/search/

Or if you are feeling real creative: Roll your own! http://hotwired.lycos.com/webmonkey/...tw=programming

All are free/GPL or included with the web server. PHP one should work on most any PHP webserver.
