| Finally putting my important links on my site
Searching for links in Favorites was really getting to be a PITA even though I have extensive folders set up to file them.
So I have finally broken down and started editing my personal web page so I can more quickly go where I want to when trying to help someone of the boards.
I know it is very basic but I've set it up so all the links open in a new window.
Only have about 9 more categories to put in. The Windows support links will be the toughest. Probably around 75 sites or more.
And then there's the alphabetizing crap that takes so long.
What a time consuming task. Copy paste, copy paste ...... etc.
Any suggestions to make this task easier please feel free to enlighten me. http://members.cox.net/ihategates/mylinks.html

why didnt you just "export" your favorites to an html file? That would have alphabetized them and all for you.

I did that but just about everyone of them had something about "last visit" included in the address.
Does that matter?
I'm learning here.

hmm... i didnt know it had that in there. I would assume it would only be used for caching purposes, like if it were last accessed only a few minutes ago that it would load some cached data instead of downloading the whole page again. That would be my guess on that. |

Here's an example of the exported html:
<A HREF="http://www.paralan.com/gloswdlist.html" ADD_DATE="1062946066" LAST_VISIT="1070732083" LAST_MODIFIED="1062946075">SCSI Terminologies Quick List</A>
When all it should be is:
<A HREF="http://www.paralan.com/gloswdlist.html>SCSI Terminologies Quick List</A>

hmm interesting. Well maybe just removing all of that from each link would be easier then making a whole new page where you would be copying and pasting things anyway? Im not too fluent in Perl but I am pretty sure you can conjur up a script to replace ADD_DATE="??????????" with just a space throughout the file. |

Well, I'm getting there.
Should I change my background color?

Bill | Either that or change the link color to something besides blue. Maybe a lighter shade of gray for the background. |

if you'd like
Its all up to you. Personally, I would change it because black and white gets boring after a while. |

I think this new background color is better on the eyes.
