Charity Website

I work for a charity and another charity has approached us to develop a website for them and host it. Although we do not have the skills we cannot afford to refuse the work. I plan to sub contract the work. The organisation has approched us because we have good relations with them. Since I am the IT(Trainer) person my employer is relying on me to win the contract. The charity I work for appreciate that we do not have the skills to do the job hence that is why I have a contracter in mind. We would like to earn 70% of the cost of such a project the contracter takes 30%. Is 70% realistic ?

At this moment in time charity has not sent the details/specifications of what they want on the site. Once we have this my question is how do you cost a website project since this would require

1. Creation 2. Hosting

What are the itemised elments that make up the cost of Creation?
What are the itemised elments that make up the Hosting cost ?

just some questions to keep in mind:

is this a job where the person would have to update, or would they teach you how to do the updates etc.

do they have any part of an existing website (like a domain name they can use etc...)


as for the 70% 30% thing:
it all depends on the amount of money. if you were making $10 then having the creator get $3 is pretty unrealistic. if you were making $10M, then im sure the creator would be quite happy with $3M
