image hosting on my space

Alright to start off i know nothing about the internet/webhosting or any of that jaz besides the most basic of HTML. Anyways I have a 100MB of webspace(with full ftp mysql and stuff) sitting around and was wondering if I could turn it into a photo gallery. I have no clue as to how I could do this.

How would I go about creating this. Is there some kind of program that could create an html page with thumbnails and links to the full sized photos. Or is there some way to make live pages that will create a web page with thumnails from files i have in a folder in my web space?

Any help or insight would be apriciated.

If you want something like this then go here and download Gallery 1.4.1.

I can walk you through an installation if necessary. It's a pain the first time but easy after that. (I have done quite a few myself) Just make sure you meet all the requirements.

Basically, once it's installed you simply create albums and upload the photos/images. It resizes them for you into thumbnails.

that is exactly what i want. but I went through all the stuff and am kind of ignorant to what to look for especially just getting started. I don't know what i need to do as far as imagemagik and stuff. I also tried looking through the forums but they don't have anything for Complete newbies so I'll be in touch if you don't mind.
