Apple Computer CEO Steve Jobs announced the new iPhone during the Macworld convention keynote speech. Right after his speech ended, company stock climbed about seven points.
We have been very lucky to have brought a few revolutionary user interfaces to the market -- the mouse, the click wheel, and now Multi-Touch. Each has made possible a revolutionary product, the Mac, the iPod, and now the iPhone. We're going to build on top of that with software. Software on mobile phones is like baby-software. Today we're going to show you a software breakthrough. Software that's 5-years ahead of what's on any other phone.

| I agree. The iPhone looks amazing. It'll be interesting to see how it really performs once it is released. Much thinner than I thought it would be and the interface/screen look amazingly slick. Im hoping my company discount allows me to get one for a decent price ;) |

| that phone looks amazing, only thing that worries me is if the screen is going to be able to withstand a good amount of force and resist scratches |

| I also think its very interesting that Apple decided to not support the emerging 3G networks. Such a fancy phone and it doesn't support 3G???? This could be a deal breaker IMO. I just got a new phone and swore it would be my last 2.5G (EDGE) device. Granted, do I really need blazing speeds on my phone? Probably not, but if Im spending multiple hundred-dollars on a device it better come equipped appropriately. |

| I dont really see anything special about the phone in terms of its features, it just has a distictive design and nice operating system.
They are introducing 5 megapixels in camera phones now (N95), the iPhone only has 2. As for their iPod within the phone, its already been covered both by nokia and Sony Erricson. Music players is something you would expect in all modern up-to-date phones. The new N Series with Symbian operating systems are the proper phones to get if your looking for a phone with functionality. The design of some of those phones arent too bad either. It seems as though this iPhone may become more of a fashion item like the iPod as become over time, than actually presenting itself as a useful phone. |

| ipod in the phone is covered by others, but others all have a 100 song limit. This is a full 8GB capable phone. The whole reason for the 100 song limit on other phones is now clear.
Its lack of 3G, Exchang support, a stylus, and other things will keep me from truely wanting one. Plus, if its anything like the ipods, if you so much as look at it funny it'll scratch. Throw in apple's crapacular plastic on a TOUCH SCREEN device, and you are going to have one UGLY phone in a day or two. |

| If you watched the keynote you would see the point of the iPhone. Apple isn't about having the most features and more then the competition. Look at the iPod. It has one of the least amount of features in an MP3 player. What Jobs was getting at about the iPhone and what made the iPod popular was the ease of use of these devices. When the iPod came out it offered everything the competition had. No feature made it really distinctive besides the scroll wheel, but all the other devices had its own way of navigation. What made the iPod stand out and take the market was the ease of use of the device. It was easy ot navigate, easy to sync up, and easy to get songs to the iPod. Apple is doing the same thing with the iPhone by getting rid of the physical keyboard and dials. Now if it takes off, I don't know. We will have to see. |

| It's a phone. It's an ipod. It's a wireless browser. Not that amazing! Anyone that pay's $500 for one of these things should put a big sticker on their head that says "sucker!" |

| Well maybe they better change the name to "PodPhone" seeing how Cisco is suing over the 'iPhone' name |
