Well, it's doing 2.9ghz (2.2ES default) at a lower vcore than it could do before. It won't budge over 42C running Orthos either. I started at 2.4, tried 2.66, 2.8 (3 combinations) and 2.9 at 16x182. I'm hoping for 3.0 because 2.9 was my previous max, but I've been sneaking up to it. lol

i have a 3.06 p4 in my laptop, which is a desktop processor, much like the one you have.. do you think stripping it of its IHS would help it to cool better in a "stock situation" like a laptop?

lol @ lindstrom.
You might actually end up with clearance issues, Shucky. Your current lappy heatsink is made to tighten down to the IHS. If you remove it you'll need a shim to pick up the slack. I removed my IHS to upgrade the mobile celery in my laptop, but the mobo didn't like it. Then I thought, what the heck - it's nekked - let's see what she'll do with h2o in the decktop! lol

Here's an update on the overclock. I got it to 3.0GHz & even managed a Aquamark3 run, but I gots a BSOD just sitting there. Also the vcore quit drooping & is actually higher than I have it set. It's over 1.7v & I don't want to risk killing it. Rock stead at 2.91GHz though.
