A project that was supposed to take a simple afternoon ended up being a 2 day workhouse project.
Once I broke all the old wood off (original wood that was molded, ruined, and painted over 5 times over) I got started.
I had to buffer the old metal and smooth it out, and before I could even start, I had to saw off over 10 rusted bolts that somehow took well over 2 hours of torture. When done, I repainted it a glossy black.
Same goes for the Ash tray, buffed it and repainted it..
Then for the bench I got some new pine wood and stained it red mahogany to give it a good look, bolted it up, and let it sit for a day to dry up completely.
It's by no means perfect, but for my first "refurbishing" thing i've ever done, I don't think it came out half bad.
What do you all think of it?

Looks awesome Solocamo! I love those style of benches.
Not too sure about the pine though. Something a little harder for longevity. Excellent work though!

Looks great coming from a part-time woodworker here. I would be proud to have it at my house
If it's out of the weather and sunlight, stained pine should hold up fine.

My wife has a bench almost exactly like that on our front porch. The backrest on her's has 3 slats instead of 2 like yours. My wife got the metal pieces from her mother and my father replaced the wood parts for her and repainted the metal. On my wife's bench the wood is painted an off white instead of stained.
Nice work!
