Just out of curiousity, wheres does that claimed CAI actually draw in cool air?

I guess it's more of a "mass air intake"...doesn't really add cold air, just more air. Which is why the tuner is needed.

you can have a pipe on the intake plenum 3 feet wide... the motor can only draw in so much air.

it has a 'heat shield' to help block the hot engine bay air from coming in. It helps, but not as much as moving the filter to the bumper

Kenne Bell, a supercharger company, makes their twin screw supercharger with that in mind. They relocate the filter to the passenger side, and they put it behind the bumper. It requires cutting of the body to make its way down there. I like the idea, but I'm not so fond of cutting the body. Others have experimented with snaking tubing from the lower grille opening up to the air filter for more fresh air. Seems like a good idea, and I'd like to give it a try.

Its surprisingly easy to buy a few pipe bends, elbows, and straights and a bunch of connectors and relocate the intake.
