so what is coming out of the laptop (port wise) that goes into the TV to get that good of a resolution. I have a sony Vega 52" LCD Projection HDTV and i used S-video and it looked like crap so i just canned the idea. I want to do that with my desktop (XFX 8600GT) Ideas?

Depending on your tv inputs available, you can get a DVI-HDMI cable. That's the best way to go. You set whatever res in the nvidia control panel and it works great!
Nice setup sweeper. I bet games would like NICE on that!

Nice...I was thinking of doing that with our lappy and then renting movies from Itunes to play!
Do you have an Internet connection to that setup? Wireless or hardwire?

I am actually very interested in doing this with my PC.. from what I have read though the inputs on the TV arent as high of a refresh rate so gaming and other things are pretty crappy because of the lag. I have an XFX 8600GT that I would love to get a DVI to HDMI or similar cable for, would it be worth it? (PM so i dont hijack his photo thread, sorry sweeper2)

What resolution are you running , it doesn't look very high.
is the TV not full-hd or is the laptop holding it back?

I use an Olevia 42" 1080p LCD HDTV as a dedicated desktop display at up to 1920x1080@60Hz. Mine will go up to 75Hz at lower resolutions, assuming refresh rate is a concern. Much like the situation presented above, I am using a standard analog VGA connection between the system and display with acceptable results.
If you are going to run such a large HDTV as a computer display, I highly suggesting using its native resolution. Otherwise, you are getting into scaling, which can be a huge YMMV depending upon the display's backend hardware. Accordingly, for those interested in large screen HDTV computing, go into the purchase knowing if you truly want a 720p or 1080p display.

it's a 720p HDTV LCD ... the lappy is only intergrated video.. so when i go and put it up on the tv.. i think it down sizes it to a size the tv can support... i have no lag.. and it looks sharper then the pics show... but i can't get a decent "High quality" out put with standard VGA and intergrated chipset graphics...
I would love to hook my regular pc up to it with my evga 8600gt through HDMI.. that would be sweet.. but the tower etc is in another room .. LOL..

A lot of HDTV's have limited resolution through VGA inputs, its probably not the laptop problem.
