You havent run up against some of the 66 stangs in my area they would take your vette out back like a bad prom date and tear it a new one lol. Have a friend running a 66 stang 1200 hp 0-60 3.4 secs fully street legal.

Alucard...ask "your friend" what the point of running a 1,200hp stang is when you are pulling 0-60 times of much weaker cars. What's the point of all that power when you can't hook?

At my age, I have nothing to prove as far as speed goes. It is nice to have a quick car out of the box, without thousands of dollars in mods. And the prom date would probably rather ride in the Vette

You probably get better fuel mileage than a 1200hp car too

Yeah, a 1200hp stang might whip the vet as long as it's a short and straight drag race. But the first time they have to use the steering wheel and take a corner the vet will hug that corner then speed away in new direction. The stang will keep going straight and probably end up out in the corn field.

I feel like I have to stick up for the Mustang. The new chassis (S197) is a far superior chassis compared to all the older Mustangs. A few suspension mods, and it will easily corner at 1g. Granted, they're heavy, but they are solid cars and if you have about $20k laying around after you buy one, you can turn it into an all-around Corvette-killing monster...and when all is said and done, you've paid the same as the guy who just bought his C6.
