Its a completely redundant airplane...practically has two of everything in it. I heard squadron rumors that one returned home from a desert storm mission with half a wing on one side. Armored canopy and armor piercing missles...tanks worst nightmare. Ltes not forget the huge Gatlin gun on the front. 3000rounds/minute creates lift on the the front of the airplane...gotta keep that nose down!

My favorite plane.
sKiT: There was one hit by a SAM over Iraq that lost most of a wing. The pilot wasn't aware of the severity of the damage until he landed and got out of the plane. I've got it on video somewhere.
BTW, ScottW is correct....it's a Maverick.

Cool pic.
We see them all the time - I live right up the street from Willow Grove NAS - it's one of the biggest all services reservist center.. lots of A10's, P3's, Tankers, now and then F18's & F14's, and the rare Harrier.
